Episode I : Dinner...

Well friends,
Xavier is here. It's been a long road getting to this point; the beginning of another long road, parenthood.

At the beginning of this journey lies tonights dinner. I'm no cook, chef, or Julia Child. However, with all the new responsibilities on my wife it's only fair that I help out the best that I can.

Tonights fair is not a burger, it's the Juicy Lucy. The Juicy Lucy is a traditional Midwestern dinner from Minneapolis. Basically it's a burger with the cheese inside of the meat instead of on top of it.

There are many varieties of this meal, I stuck with the classic recipe. I combined 1tsp garlic powder, 1/2tsp pepper and 3/4tsp salt, 2 pieces of white sandwich bread torn into small pieces,
and 1/4cup milk in a bowl, then mashed it until it's a consistent mush. Next you kneed in 1.5lbs ground beef until it's a consistent texture. Every 1.5lbs of meat will yield 4 Juicy Lucy's. I divided my meat into 1/8th portions, then wrapped a 1/2inch piece of deli american cheese completely in 1 of the portions, then wrapped than in another 1/8 portion.

It is VERY important to make sure the cheese is contained in the meat, you don't
want your Lucy to become unjuicy.

You can cook these on a grill or on the stove top in a skillet with vegetable oil, and after letting them cool for 8 minutes it's time to enjoy.

Yum!
